Our Core Beliefs

Throughout the Universe is evidence of an infinite intelligence at work, indicating the existence of a Divine Being. This Presence is all-knowing, all powerful and everywhere equally present (we call this presence, this life force, "God," "Infinite intelligence," "Universal Mind" or the "One Power.")

God is neither male nor female, yet is both. God is the life force which infuses all creation; God is in, through and AS every living thing.

The nature of this Divinity is good and its tendency is always toward love, peace, abundance and health.

This presence, being all there is, must create out of Itself. The creator, the creative medium and the created, are therefore one.

There is no power opposed to God, this Divinity, this Infinite Intelligence. There is no power of evil; that which appears to us to be evil is simply a misunderstanding and misuse of the one power, just as darkness is simply an absence of light.

We, being created by the creator out of itself, are some part of All That Is, and have access to the wisdom and power of God as we unify with It.

The Infinite Intelligence responds to us through the mold of our thinking. "As you believe, so it is done unto you." We can improve the quality of our lives by becoming aware of the power of our thinking and by working to focus our consciousness on the outcome we desire.

We believe in the power of our mind, united with the Infinite Mind, to heal conditions in our physical bodies, in our financial affairs and in our relationships.

Our History

The Positive Living Centre of Victoria began in 1990 as the Victoria Church of Religious Science, headquartered in Los Angeles and based on the teachings of Ernest Holmes who wrote the text book, "Science of Mind". As an affiliate church, we were required to hire a minister licensed by UCORS and to operate consistent with the policies of the parent church.

Our ten years as a Religious Science church were good ones; however in the fall of 2000, our minister accepted a posting in Calgary and the members opted to disaffiliate from the parent church and to continue as an independent congregation under the leadership of Pat Zogar, a charter member who had acted as assistant minister on many occasions. We continue to teach the philosophy of Ernest Holmes and other great teachers.

On May 29, 2002, Rev. Pat Zogar was ordained by Dr. Jacqueline Darby and Dr. Herman Aaftink of the International Alliance of Churches of Truth, Canada. Many members have found that they enjoy the autonomy of being an independent congregation. We operate under the direction of an annually elected Board of Directors. We are very democratic in nature and we welcome new members, respecting and responding to the ideas and input of old and new members alike.

In March 2006, The Positive Living Centre of Victoria was blessed to have Rev. Kim Fairrel join as co-pastor.

September 2008: It is with joy, love, and sadness that we said farewell to Reverend Pat Zogar, whose spiritual journey has led her to Winnipeg, where she has accepted the position of Co-Minister at the Centre for Conscious Living.

New Thought Alliance of Canada (NTAC)

The Positive Living Centre of Victoria is a member of The New Thought Alliance of Canada. The New Thought Alliance of Canada is uniting, focusing, promoting and sharing, the principles and practices of New Thought and supporting humanity in living them.
